Elements Construction Document and Construction Administration/HOK Project Design

2014-2017 Projects at Tampa International Airport- MTAC

Overview

This major project was the Architecture Production and Construction Administration on the Tampa International Four Airsides Concession Redevelopment and Functional Improvements ($11 million budget). The design was by HOK. The Concession Redevelopment involved working closely with the HOK Team to implement new lease lines and interior facades in all four airsides for the restaurants and retail tenants. The Functional improvements involved the redevelopment of public waiting areas. We established charging stations and new furniture layouts to the hold-room design.

Lois Plymale, AIA, Project Responsibilities

Remodel of the four airsides at Tampa International Airport. Tampa International is unique as each Airside is a building designed by local architects. These buildings were handled with sensitivity to their original design intent. Elements worked with the lead designer Leesa Coller, RA from HOK in St. Louis. As part of the team that implemented HOK’s design into construction documents, I served in many capacities during the last three years. This was a Design Build Project with Skanska USA as the contractor. As Revit Coordinator I am the primary person in charge of model management. This is a large model 350 mb.
•Created construction documents from base model.•Managed Revit file from construction document creation through constructionadministration and post construction documentation for as-built drawing creation. Wehave kept an up to date model.•Aided in the creation of templates and overall drawing design and layout.•Did troubleshooting with Autodesk with technical issues of model management of basemodel used by all consultants.•Interfaced with engineers, mechanical, electrical, structural, and telecommunication—incoordination of systems on the project and in the model integration of links.
Construction Administration
•Responded to RFIs.
•Reviewed shop submittals
•Coordinated solutions to unforeseen conditions that arose from demolition, modeled inRevit to find 3-d solutions.
•Preformed punch list preparation.

Additional Projects at Tampa International-
HCAA Cafeteria in Main Terminal-managed Revit model for creation of construction documents.
Airside E Buildout---Design of Delta Lounge and HCAA Training Area. Managed Model-created construction documents.

Airside F Storage Buildings—Designed site specific storage builds (2) for use as concession food prep and storage located on the Ramp level of Airside A. It was a very challenging site with all utilities for the airside beneath the site and a major egress line. Created 3-d Revit model coordinated with MEP and structural engineers. Developed construction documents performed construction administration.

Public Art Program on the four Airsides. We produced construction documents for the relocation of many fine art pieces and the installation of several new pieces.
